Background
Checker
New Zealand's number one pre-employment, background and
staff checking directory
Why
Perform a background check?
Can you
Trust the CV ?
It’s
an accepted fact that a person would not submit a bad CV,
but what are the most common lies ? Check here
http://recruitmentdad.com/top-5-candidate-lies-2/
We see
these repeated lies virtually every day, and the task is
simply to get the truth from the fantasy.
Puffery might be accepted by many on a CV such as claiming
to be the best secretary or mechanic or airline pilot, which
is of course nonsense as there is no way to properly assess
that and no-one really takes notice of such claims, but
falsely saying you have credentials that others have worked
hard to get is downright fraud.
Lying
on a CV is not harmless, it’s a clear indication that the
candidate cannot be trusted and how as an employer or
candidate possibly hope to gain each others respect when the
foundation is based on falsehoods. Further, our research
shows that employers want real people, people with skills
and integrity and not they a person who is willing to cheat
and lie to get a job.
So if
you are tempted to put on your CV:
-
I
haven’t sent my CV to anyone else or got any other
interviews lined up
-
A
higher that actual current salary
-
Anything that begins “The reason I left that job” or
“The reason I want to leave is..”
-
Dates of employment that are wrong or have gaps
-
I
can’t think of anyone to refer to you
.... then
you have just reached the TOP 5, but on the worst list!
